One last thing...

We apologise for asking, but before moving to payment, please consider adding a donation.

Over the last few years, with people carrying less cash, donations collected on Open Days have diminished and we need to raise more money to preserve the Heritage Centre. We are all volunteers and are dedicated to providing all visitors with a special visit to the Heritage Centre, but we need help in the form of donations.

Last year the upkeep of the building cost over £15,000 and more is needed this year.

The Heritage Centre is rented to us, making the Foulness Conservation and Archaeological Society responsible for the upkeep. This building, which is over 170 years old, is in a Conservation Area which means there are certain demands made on any maintenance work that needs to be carried out. It must be done sympathetically, with the right materials and in a way that is in keeping with the original building and surrounding area. This adds to our running costs.

We have resisted introducing a visitor charge, because we want you all to come and share the unique experience that is Foulness, but we need to continue and invest in the many areas of the building that need attention.

Please would you consider making a donation, but we stress, this is voluntary and will help us improve your experience.

We are suggesting just £2, because if we receive this from a reasonable proportion of visitors, it will return us the level of donations of a few years ago.
